The shocking murder of 10-year-old Sara Sharif caused outrage around the world. Her father, Urfan Sharif, admitted to killing her in a brutal act of violence.
But the tragedy didn’t stop there. The details of Sara’s death are deeply disturbing.
While in prison, “word spread quickly about who Urfan was,” and the “cruel” child killer was attacked by other inmates, who decided to take justice into their own hands.
On August 8, 2023, the heartbreaking story of Sara Sharif, a bright and loving 10-year-old girl, was shared in the news.
Sara “was hooded, burned, and beaten during two years of abuse” before her body was found at her home in Woking, Surrey. Police found her in a bunk bed along with a confession letter written by her father. The note said: “Whoever sees this note, it’s me, Urfan Sharif, who killed my daughter by beating her. I am running away because I am scared.”
The letter also said, “I swear to God my intention was not to kill her. But I lost control.”
Shockingly, Sara’s father and two other family members fled to Pakistan a day before her body was discovered.
After an international search, Sara’s uncle, Faisal Malik, 29; her father, Urfan Sharif, 42; and her stepmother, Beinash Batool, 30, were arrested and charged.
The court heard that Sara had over 70 injuries. These included broken ribs, damaged shoulder blades, injuries to her fingers, and 11 fractures in her spine. She also had a head injury, burns caused by an iron, and human bite marks.
Although the three suspects denied their involvement, Urfan eventually admitted in court, “She died because of me.”
On December 17, 2024, Urfan Sharif was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 40 years. Beinash Batool was also given a life sentence with a minimum of 33 years. The judge called their actions “a campaign of torture” and said the cruelty they showed was “almost unimaginable.” Faisal Malik received 16 years for causing or allowing Sara’s death.
Sara’s birth mother, Olga Domin, gave a statement in court. She called the three suspects “sadists” and said, “Even that word is not enough for you. You are executioners.”
To her daughter, she said, “She is now an angel who looks down on us from heaven. She is no longer suffering.”
When Urfan entered prison, he faced the harsh reality of life behind bars. In prison, there is an unspoken rule: people who harm children are despised by other inmates.
Urfan’s crime became widely known in the prison, and he became a target.
A source told *The Sun* that since arriving at South London’s HMP Belmarsh, also called “Britain’s Guantanamo Bay,” Urfan had tried to stay quiet. But “inmates were not happy he was there. Even though many of them have done terrible things, they don’t tolerate people who hurt children.”
On New Year’s Day, just weeks into his sentence, two prisoners attacked Urfan with the sharp lid of a tuna can.
“Urfan was badly cut in his cell by two inmates who rushed in. They planned the attack and used a homemade weapon – a tuna can lid. He was slashed on the neck and face. He’s still in healthcare and in very bad shape,” a source explained.
“He was lucky to survive. He needed stitches and will have scars for life. The guards tried to protect him, but he was always a target because his case was so widely known.”
The source added, “An attack like this was expected. People are saying it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person.”
One of Urfan’s attackers is believed to be Steve Sansom, who is serving a life sentence for killing and dismembering Sarah Mayhew, 38, in 2024. Sansom was also convicted of killing a cab driver in 1999.
