Former President Jimmy Carter has disclosed his dying wish while receiving hospice care at his Georgia residence, as his 100th birthday approaches and his life appears to be drawing to a close. According to reports, the 99-year-old is becoming increasingly frail, yet he remains remarkably alert and engaged in contemporary politics.
Jason Carter, Jimmy’s grandson, has stated that Jimmy’s intention is to vote for Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, in the upcoming November elections. Jason disclosed to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution that his grandfather is also concerned with the ongoing conflict in Gaza, in addition to other matters.
Jimmy Carter anticipates the opportunity to vote.
The United States presidential election is scheduled to take place several weeks following Jimmy’s 100th birthday. Georgia’s early voting commences on October 15, and he is optimistic about his chances of surviving until then. Jimmy has been in hospice for more than a year, living beyond the life of his wife, Rosalynn, who passed away at the age of 96 due to dementia.
Jimmy was last observed in public at the funeral of his wife in Plains, Georgia, where he was accompanied by other dignitaries, including President Joe Biden and his First Lady Jill, Vice President Kamala, and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff. Michelle Obama, Melania Trump, Laura Bush, and the Clintons were also present.
Health status thus far:
Jimmy’s lengthy life has been plagued by a succession of illnesses, including metastatic melanoma in 2015, which metastasized to his brain but was promptly eradicated by radiation treatments. In 2019, he sustained a series of falls that necessitated multiple stitches and surgery for recovery.
Jimmy maintained a positive attitude and continued to attend for as long as he could in the face of these obstacles. He eventually resolved to accept hospice care in 2023 after making frequent hospital visits. Since then, he has been absent from the public eye, with only his closest friends and family members having access to him.
